Dulce Pájara De Juventud s/t lp

Friends since kindergarten, Dulce Pájara de Juventud is a band born in the industrial belt of Barcelona (the Baix Llobregat) that bets on epic and psychedelic songs in equal parts. With a tight balance between sung parts and instrumental developments (which the band uses as a field for expressing emotions), the album's compositions stick to your skin like mosquitoes in September. The presence of expansive keyboards, choirs that don't shy away from epics and uouoooos, and a solid rhythmic base bring to mind current bands like Deerhunter, Arcade Fire or Fang Island. You listen to Gigalove on the subway and you can't stop turning up the volume and hitting the ground to the beat of the kick drum. The meter seems to circulate in an ascending line and not horizontally; the group's songs look you in the eye and remind you that tomorrow the sun will rise. In the soul of the group there seems to be a contagious desire for liberation, that letting go of ballast that makes life worth living. Songs that always look forward, with a marked tone of interior epic that perfectly portrays the emotional roller coaster that constitutes post-adolescence. Emotion, desire, debauchery (Dear Bruno), mysticism, fear (The Fear), death (Junior vs Death), sadness, love (Ani), disenchantment... All this palette of emotions is present throughout the album (not in vain is Daniel Johnston -the little great emperor of emotional sincerity- one of the band's artistic references). The successful production of Santi García enhances the expressive versatility of Dulce Pájara de Juventud's compositions. The group is shown to be capable of introducing different instruments (keyboards, strings), vocal lines and all kinds of atmosphere (the instrumental interlude Nacer 3 was great, with the voices of a very high-flying South American televangelist serving as a crescendo), giving a colorful set to the different listeners will certainly appreciate.
