Canuck singer-songwriter Eamon McGrath, like Gentleman Reg before him, will be dividing his new album up into a string of digital instalments. The first release, Exile Part 1, will be out on October 15 through Aporia Records. This will be the first of three mini-releases, which will culminate in the full-length vinyl version of Exile in nine months. This is a slight change from McGrath's previous plan, which was to release four short EPs over the span of a year. The songwriter recorded the new material with his band during live-off-the-floor sessions with Rob Higgins at his Phoebe St. Studios in Toronto. The musicians used no click track and a minimum of editing. A press release notes that Exile Part 1 features the R.E.M.-influenced "Enduring Love," the Replacements/Husker Dü-style punk number "Bitter End" and the soul ballad "Uninvited Guest."
