Paul Simon is world-famous in his own right, but he got his start in music as part of the 1960s folk-rock duo, Simon & Garfunkel. Simon met his musical partner Art Garfunkel in elementary school and went on to write hits like"Mrs. Robinson,""Bridge over Troubled Water," and"Cecilia." Another hit song,"The Sound of Silence," flopped on the charts upon its release in 1965. It wasn't until a producer released a remix that the song became a huge hit.
